  • Meadow Brook Concours - 4 Cylinder Display

Thank you to everyone who attended the Meadow Brook Concours in Rochester, Michigan this past weekend.

The Concours featured motorcycles for the first year and the display was phenomenal - 40 4 cylinder motorcycles were on the field; FN, Ace, Henderson, Munch, Indian, Honda... the list goes on. Seeing that variety and that number of 4's on the field was spectacular.

The tradition of featuring motorcycles at the Meadow Brook Concours is here to stay; next year's highlight will be sidecars.

We are accepting nominations for the 2008 event and welcome submissions. Please submit details and photos of your bike and sidecar to me at:

    motorcycleselection@meadowbrookconcours.org

The emphasis of the display will be pre-1948 combinations and we are particularly seeking commercial rigs and pre-1920 rigs.

Thanks again to everyone for helping make the inaugural motorcycle display an overwhelming success!

      Forty 4's Photos

We have a plethora of photos generously taken by one of our participants - Gordon Rinschler. I'll post a few of them - it was quite a display: the first four cylinder motorcycle in the world was present (1904/05 FN - Petersen Museum) and there were bikes up through the mid 1970's when Honda was producing some really great 4's.

Cory - pretty sure it's dark navy blue. We have one locally.

It is dark navy blue and it's completely, wonderfully, unrestored. The unrestored bike is owned by a gentleman in Texas who has generously loaned it to the Pierce Museum which is part of the Gilmore Museum complex at Hickory Corners, Michigan.

I am a firm believer in having restored and unrestored motorcycles on display at the Concours - it looked great to have the restored and unrestored bikes positioned next to each other for comparison and it was pretty popular with the crowd.

Hmmmm.........I guess my eye was a little off on the paint. Beautiful machine though........ It looks like it was a great show! Paul, I'll have to prowl around your neck of the woods one day to maybe catch a glimpse of such magnificent machines........
