That thing does look nice JoJo. I'd be WAY out of my wheelhouse trying to evaluate a fair price for it though. And even farther out knowing what is correct or not, including the numbers on any Indian. I wonder how it came to be for sale by someone who says they know nothing about it. Maybe a surviving relative of the owner.?. Looks like there's already a pending sale. Hope it works out well for all concerned.

I agree Clark. Currently, the Indian is off pending? I'm not really a total aficionados on Indian motorcycles either Clark, but I thought some Indian experts here might pow wow on the '39's qualities. Also, the seller, if you look at his profile, seems to be knowledgable on old iron. Who knows? It's a cRaZy World out there~Hahaha.

A well schooled Indian friend is the one who it was pending for. He said this bike was at Jefferson but in a trailer and I couldn't find it. He went to look at it and it has multiple issues. Obvious restamped engine case, frame number is ground over and list goes on. Seems like it might be a good start for someone wanting a rigid Chief project but the average person would want a lower price of admission. Maybe if someone had a complete 39 engine sitting on shelf it would be more enticing assuming frame is actually a 39. He saw enough to get deposit back and drive home. It is very intriguing in photos though.

Your friend was wise to pass on that '39, Jason. It is a gorgeous bike but the devil is in the details. Like you said, for the right price it would be worth addressing the problems because it is such a great year for an Indian; but, tricky work to get it right.
