Law Tigers are a national firm and support many, many motorcycle events around the country. I have no first hand knowledge of them. Good luck with all of this, but as a footnote I really hate attorneys, have needed them two times and each were a problem almost as bad as the issue I hired them for. Each guy I used was based on a referral so there you go.

Good comment, Knuck. My one experience was weird to say the least, but the outcome was (I think) worth the trip. Anymore, you can throw a rock in your neighborhood and hit a lawyer, or a legal assistant. It's the litigious country we live in and the neo-caveman hierarchy have evolved into.

So I was rear-ended by a little ol' lady from Tiskilwa in a Chrysler, Folks....

This was a quarter-century ago, but still a lesson;

My counsel recouped me next to nothing for my crushed ankle, loss of productivity, etc.
But I dealt directly with the opposing insurance company for the machine, writing my own damage appraisal, and the agent printed me out a check for the full amount on the spot... And I kept the machine.

There's a lot more to the story, but you get the point,

You have my sympathies, thoughts and best wishes for your complete and speedy recovery FNG.

On a slight tangent here but I'd like to say something about how I felt after having my freshly restored bike smashed from behind by an inattentive reefer-reeking stoner. Yes... I was happy and thankful not to have been more seriously injured or worse. I recognize the sacred and irreplaceable nature of life! And I appreciate and understand it when well-meaning people point out that fact and attempt to cheer you up by saying "things can be repaired or replaced, people can't".

All true. But some of us put our blood, sweat tears, time, 'heart and souls' into these old bikes. We (at least I) sometimes develope an attachment to them, right or wrong. When some ignorant moron* causes them harm, there is a real sense of loss.

So FNG, I'm also offering my best wishes for the complete recovery of your old bike.

*The advice to restrict your comments on the net is solid so I'm saying it for you.

I just had a better idea than an attorney. Make contact with their insurance company and ask them straight up what is the liability policy limit they have with the insured. If it is say 50k or 100k that is all your going to get no matter how good any attorney is and No matter what your damages are. If they have say a 1 million dollar umbrella policy then an attorney will be better to negotiate it.

My daughter just did that last year when some guy hit her, he had 30k limit, totaled her new car out and some minor injury involved. She then went to her own insurance company and filed an underinsured insurance claim. Settled with them on that to make her whole for damages. Now if you don't have underinsured coverage on your policy then you can't do that part.

But for sure you can legally ask for their policy limits before any attorney is involved then you will know where you stand. Get it in writing and then decide. If the person that hit you has no assets beyond the insurance then you really will never get anything no matter all the court time and attorney money spent. If you are in a No Fault state then it could be different on damages. Just asking the policy limit question does not risk your case in any way.
Yes, I was in the auto insurance claims business.

People who have no assets tend to carry low limits because they have nothing to lose so hope that is not them. Good luck.
