  • AMCA July- August 2025 issue one of the best ever?

I try to read every issue from cover to cover but not always successful, this one I could not put down. Maybe because the California Cutdown special issue was so cool to read or how about the Editor's story about Mr. & Mrs. Rider going over the Altamont Pass to San Francisco on a 1910 Flying Merkel going 200 miles in 12 hours! Their trips to Yosemite remind me of some of mine.

The Muroc Bobber, with Jerry Greer and the 8 Ball Indian is must read. I could go on but read for yourself.

Given some of the commentary on this forum about "cut off" dates for bikes and the constant, almost obsessive mentioning of judging in the magazine . . . I honestly never thought I'd see customs and chops in our magazine.

All that said; I've been on a fair number of road runs and chapter road runs -- I've seen a fair number of chops and customs being ridden in those events and I've done it myself on a '46 UL bobber. Oddly, the chops and bobbers got a lot of positive attention.

On the latest run in June -- half the riders were on 1970s chops . . . and despite being parked up next to Black Shadows, Indian Chiefs, and other "correct" bikes . . .the chops were loved by the general public everywhere we stopped.

Good on the AMCA for recognizing members aren't "only" into this or that.

I'm in the Antique Chevy Club of America and they have a Chapter called "My Chevy My Way" for guys/gals who like to make "modifications", not within the conventional parameters of the club's strict restoration guidelines. I ain't got a dawg in this hunt, to each his/her own. I do like my Vintage air unit in my "1963 C-10, and power steering after 4 shoulder operations. I have no intention of showing.
