I'd a kept on going too, Jorrow!Originally posted by jorrow View PostAnd just keeps riding down the road, not bothering to check for damage...?
For one thing, there was traffic on his arse, or we wouldn't have the video.
For another, changing your shorts on the side of the road in daylight is embarrassing, even though you just proved testicular fortitude.
And lastly, its only a 'street glide', whatever that is.

Amazing lucky save, but I imagine it was a reflex action, because it occurred extremely fast. There was plenty of deer near me, and to and fro from work. I used a deer whistle that was activated by the wind, but later, technology souped It up electronically, so it would work at all speeds. I had close calls, but that whistle worked pretty darn good. Sometimes, Thank God, i would see them stop dead in their tracks when they must have heard it. I would recommend deer whistles to anyone that rides.
*P.s. That Street Glide was Totaled, he was just dazed & waiting to get a chance to pull over safely with a wrecked Motorcycle.

Dunno if its always wise, M.A.D.,..Originally posted by JoJo357 View Post...I would recommend deer whistles to anyone that rides.....
A dear friend (our 'road captain') put them on his hack, and his wife always rode her stroker behind him.
He took them off, because the deer would hold back, and then run in front of her.

Yes Tom, sometimes you just can't win em' all. But why doesn't 'stroker wife' just get a whistle herself?
Just a note in regard to those reflexes involved with 'running doe'. When I ride, especially on rural & open roads, where boredom can creep in, i put myself in imaginary situations that might occur within my travels. This was a training exercise many moons ago, when my Father was a Detroit Police Motor Unit Patrolman. I truly believe this practice takes over in an event like with the doe/crash video. Without getting too philosophical here, supposedly it has a lot to do with the subliminal mind controlling your outright behavior. Try it sometime, hopefully it just might save your heinie one day.

But I believe they had both mounted whistles, with two on the hack.

PS: If they really worked, insurance companies, bureaucracies, and oppressive States would have made them manditory.
It is surprising they didn't anyway.Last edited by T. Cotten; 06-18-2025, 02:56 PM.AMCA #776
