      Thanks Tommo.
My hoarder friend found it at a local garage sale.
      No other M/C parts there.

Perhaps I should have expanded a bit and said that, that wheel could be used on singles and twins up until 1953
The two bolt brake plate was used on Home market (UK) bikes into 1949
Export bikes had the Pressed steel ,chome cover on the brake plate and used a single bolt reaction arm to secure the brake plate.
This style lasted until the end of 1951 and for 1952 and 1953 was replaced with an alloy brake plate.
So depending on what brake plate you fitted that wheel could fit 1948 to 1953 AJS and Matchless motorcycles
1954 saw the full width hub introduced and that was a totally different animal.
Another thought; If it's a 21 inch rim is a front wheel for a compy model

Then this version is the chrome back plate that ran to 1951 which makes sense as the M/C pictured was allegedly a 51 G-80 Matchless.
The front fender mount is home made I believe.
Thanks again for sharing your knowledge Tommo. Much appreciated.
