  • Help with details about this antique cycle

Greetings with a Vintage Pic of the Day: April 27, 2025

I get some correspondence from people asking for help finding or identifying antique and vintage motorcycles since my name and contact info is in the Antique Motorcycle. Not that I know much but I that it is reliable to lean on you all to point out some details when you see a photo. Paul sent me a photo of his dad while he was serving in Korea and would like to know if we can give some ideas and details about the motorcycle his dad is sitting on. Your help is most appreciated.

    Cheers

British, the fork and headlight point to pre-war, possibly mid 30s. Exhaust means likely a twin port single which was a popular variation, not a twin. The front fender stay over the top of fender is a clue as well since it is uncommon in that configuration..

Not a very good photo to make i.d. conclusions from but my guess, and I emphasis guess, is a late 1930's Zenith.
Early 1930's Velos of some models also had that style of mudguard stay but I don't think that front mudguard is Velocette.
With the clutch and front brake levers at those angles it would have not been an easy motorcycle to ride.
