IMG_1531.jpeg Here I am with my '81 FLHS somewhat obscured by the beautiful pan. This probably was '82 at the 1st "Spooks & Scoots" I believe.

As late model bikes go, that Black and Cream Heritage has to be one of the best looking bikes to roll off the line.

Not to derail this thread any further but I have a question. How was ABATE supposed to be pronounced? Like AYY bate, or uh BATE like the actual word? My band used to play for their rallies and fund raisers ect, but I never knew how to announce it properly. Most of the guys organizing those shows said "AYY bate"... but not all of them.

When I helped start the local chapter, Droptop,

It was still "A Brotherhood Against Totalitarian Enactments"!

I don't think anybody worried how you say it unless the word "master" preceded it.

Then it was good for a giggle and smirk.

            ....Cotten
PS: Alas, the bar had no PA system.

Thanks Cotten (at least for the "master" advice part). I was somewhat aware of what the letters stood for, although I believe they've gone through some changes, good or bad, I supported the cause of personal freedom and still do. Nobody's freakin business whether or not I wear a helmet... or a seatbelt for that matter. Never heard any complaints about how we pronounced it, but I'm still curious.

I’ve always heard pronounced the same way the word is pronounced but even that might be different in different regions.

When my locals wanted to go tribal with colors and such,

I dubbed it 'REBATE'; The masters didn't like that.

So then I supported the 'state chapter' for a couple of decades or so.
