  • Hello from NM: Wanted WW2 Ariel WNG For Stress Relief Project

    Hello, Doc here; not so new as an AMCA member, but new to the community forum posting. I am a member of the Zia Chapter and enjoy reducing my stress level by bringing ol' WW2 warhorses back to military fitment as close as I can. I have several brands contracted by the various governments that I restore as a hobby and am looking for a 1941 to 1944 Ariel WNG 350 cc OHV. I found a couple in the UK, but shipping, exchange rate, and custom fees are prohibitive as far as the coinage I have available to support my habit, not to mention the cost of correct military components that need to be fitted as many have been civilianized after the war . Well, there you have it. Just a shout out for any members out there that may have or know of a good candidate to help with stress relief.

    Welcome Doc,
    The Ariel WNG would be a great bike to restore to its full WWII glory. I had a very good friend who was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam years. He had an R25/2 BMW and an Ariel WNG that he knocked around on the country roads on. He loved that Ariel and wanted to ship it back home after his hitch was up, but it was to expensive. Hope you find one here stateside, as you said finding one in the UK may be much easier, but I hope this mention turns something up for you.
    Welcome to the forum!

        Welcome Doc;

        Hmmm, while I was looking around on fb I did a quick search terms: "Ariel Motorcycle" there are a couple of groups (private) on Ariel Owners of North America.
        I belong to a couple 'private' Indian groups on fb. Usually the gate keepers ask a couple esoteric questions about the subject of interest before granting membership just as an attempt to weed out scammers. Just a thought.

        Okay I did a Search Tempest search of Craigslist
        Search terms Ariel motorcycle Category Motorcycles/Scooters.
        Found these:

        "Detour Cycle Works Used Parts for British Motorcycles from the 50's 60's and 70's Triumph"
