I thought you meant world wars.
I checked the wikipedia and it's about the Civil War in USA.
    Am I right?

It pertains to all wars. Memorial Day is not for Veterans, it's to remember those whose lives were cut short before they could become Veterans.

This is supposed to be a day of reflection and gratitude for those who never grew old. Not car sales and clearance sales.

I choose to remember both those who served and never made it home and those that did and make it home, maybe not whole and those who are serving. I was never married so I have no kids but do have nephews who were in the Navy, Marines and one who ships off to basic training and then on to BUDS Seal training. My father served as did my uncle and one grandfather and many others starting with the founding of this nation. Proud of all of them and any others who have served are serving and those that will serve. Thank you!

The first world war was the war to end all wars, Jarek!

Our American day of remembrance now honors all who rest forever, in foreign soil, as well.
