Before this goes completely sideways maybe members should be informed about the true backstory involved here. Granted I have had my own issues with the National management over some 40 years but this is not one of them. There was a hostile takeover of the Sunshine Chapter and the group leader didn't think the Chapter owed the National any money period from the vendors as per the agreement you make when you host a National meet (costs of insurance and such). This person then went against most Chapter rules and held rogue meetings and such to host a regional meet similar to the old Eutis vs. Sands meets awhile back. The National was caught flatfooted and had to rally to save a National meet for the Southern area. More will come out on this later I'm sure but don't jump the gun on what you may assume happened until you really know. There was more to the Davenport deal than has come out also.

I have many personal anecdotes about my 4 membership tenures with the Sunshine Chapter. I know there are good chapters in the AMCA, and that should (and could) be the best way for new, and old members to meet, learn, and exchange with fellow antique motorcycle people. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience in Florida, and seems to be not uncommon with AMCA chapters. Harley-Davidson stressed the importance of the dealer to customer link with H-D and I think that was the key to their first 50 years of success. The AMCA metric is no different.
