top two must be amateur restorations. The restorer could not find the correct tank emblems so just wrote the word Emblem

The 'two amateur restoration motorcycles' were purchased by Bud Ekins in the 1960's from the Marion Dietrick collection of Seattle. I doubt that Bud even touched them, seeing that he had a pretty good collection of Motorcycles himself. Chris Haynes could probably give us the skinny on these. But, back then, they were ridden and 100% correct restorations didn't mean as much as they do in today's world. Besides, they will fetch a handsome penny at auction. Me personally, original Emblem Emblems were too dinky anyway, i like the large~see me distinction.

My comment was intended as a joke ! I am old enough to remember how bikes were restored in "the good old days" when anything that was originally nickel plated got chromed and painting with a brush was acceptable! After all who wouldn't love those bikes just as they are ! To me they are more desirable than the bottom 2 .
