  • 1936 EL sidecar parking brake.

In 1937 H-D first offered the parking brake attached to the foot pedal for the EL models.
Did the 1936 EL have any kind of parking brake? I know the VL did but that is a totally different animal.

Chris, If you look at the image of a 1936 EL in "The Legend Begins" you can see the 4076-36 brake arm with provision for the attachment of the sidecar wheel brake rod clevis.
If that arm was fitted it goes to reason that the sidecar wheel brake was used on 1936 EL's.
Someone must have a 1936 Sales Brochure or a model release "Enthusiast" that shows if the 4076-36 arm was fitted right from the get go.
I'm no expert on these era of Harleys but common sense says that if the factory fitted this arm and it is visible on release models then they intended the use of a sidecar wheel brake right from the start of 1936.
      Just my thoughts

Tommo, Chris is asking about a "parking brake accessory", not whether the sidecar was equipped with a wheel brake.

The question is about parking brake, Not service break. There was no announcement for the 36EL. They came out several months after the new model year in Sept. 35.
