I did not know Don well, but did enjoy meeting him on an AMCA Road Run he came to here in B.C. - if memory serves, it was the one a few of us helped host in Nelson, B.C. in the beautiful West Kootenays. We concluded it two days prior to the 9 - 11 attack. As I recall, Don was among a group of those who got back into the U.S. and on their way back home just in time ahead of border closures and travel restrictions that resulted.
It was said that he was known for having well restored and reliable running motorcycles, which he certainly did on this occasion.
(A bit off topic, I know, but it was a great time and Don was well thought of by those who knew him.)

I met Don thru the Indian 4 meet about 8-10 years ago. He had a wonderful gathering and whole pig Bar-B-Que with all the appropriate side dishes for those who arrived a day early to the 4 meet at his farm. Usually about 50-60 people. A more down to earth, gracious person you would never meet. If you have a moment look up Don and his farm, "Peninsular Farm"' in Fremont Ohio. Quite an interesting read.
