Coats Model 220 Manual Tire Changer Question

i'm searching to no avail to find some jaw protectors for my Coats Model 220 tire changer. Searched the 'net, fleece-me-bay, my dealer buddy called K&L supply, the 220 was discontinued 2016.

I would appreciate if someone will tell me where i might source these jaw protectors; they're sold in a pack of 6... The fancy kind in the pic of jaws, i've not seen before. i'm used to the ones seen in the pic of the machine; they're clear.

I have no idea where to get them but they look like something that could be 3d printed fairly easily, (something else I have no knowledge of!) If you show someone the picture who does that, maybe they can help you out. Hope this helps......Smitty

I don't have the Coats changer, Steve,..

But I did buy the bar that used similar protection (lost in the corner on the right)...

I made replaceable soft aluminum jaws for my "machine", but still needed to protect painted rims even more.

Duct tape worked fine, but I used a lot.

PS: After watching a couple of videos of making knife sheaths from PVC pipe, 'cushions' for your jaws might only need a hacksaw and a heat gun.
(Frankly, I haven't used my "machine" for years; Last was before I gave my Datsun pickup away. *sigh* )

Maybe you could re-purpose some inner tubes or wet form some leather over the jaws?

You could try a couple of coats of Plasti Dip. After it dries a couple of day it shrinks down and it is pretty tough. There are similar products that you put a primer on blasted metal, heat it and then dip it. Those products are more expensive but they don’t peel off. To remove it because of extreme wear not peeling I used to burn it off with a torch and then reapply it. I used it for different types of orthotic and prosthetic appliances.
