John Pierce paints

I have been trying to find John Pierces website for colorwrite paints. It tells me that the site has moved to a new address, which is provided. The links, however are dead. Does anyone know if he is still in business?

Max, John Pierce & that great website have both retired unfortunately. This occurred about a year ago. John & his wife plan on seeing the USA on 2 wheels. From my conversation with John, i guess there were zero takers interested in keeping the paint tradition going. What a shame.

this is happening a lot across the industry. many of these businesses are not as high profit or low work as prospective buyers imagine. they can make a living, but it seems the prospect of 60-80 hour 6-7 day/week businesses scare off lookee loos.

John got really tired of so many folks feeling like he should just give them paint codes for nothing despite the huge amount of time and effort he had invested in his business. I'm surprised he stayed in it as long as he did. I hope he enjoys his retirement.

So true Robbie. No one in the Pierce Family wanted to carry on, probably because of the business heartache involved over the years. And, John kept the web site up a lot longer than planned, even though he wasn't involved too much anymore. Finally, he just didn't want to pay to keep it going any longer.
If the phone # is still legitimate, i wonder if John Pierce would sell the website, and maybe it could be kept going with donations...just a thought. Because, like i mentioned in a post similar to the maxglass inquiry around a year ago, if i was only a little younger, i would have hopped all over this opportunity.

Thanks for the information. I'm not sure what direction I'm going to head in. I wanted to get paint for my 1919 J, olive green. There seems to be paint on one of the hubs that I may try and get color matched. I'm not sure how much paint area they need for that process. Does anyone have a paint code for shiny olive ? I do have some paint samples that I got from John and a few others a few years ago If any one needs one. Croydon cream, silver and venetian Blue. It would be nice to have some sort of data base on the forum site, rather than ask the question on paint 10 times again and again.

Wow, now that's what I call helpful. Ill have some mixed up this week and do a spray out. Thank you. Ill see if I can find the formulas for any colors I have had made. The only problems I ever had with John Peirce's colors was the paint itself. Every painter I took it to hated chromabase. They always sprayed it out and color matched it to their favorate paints, which was normally PPG. Anyway, thanks again.
