  • Shorai - Out of Business?

Someone told me Shorai https://shoraipower.com/en/ is out of business but I can't find any evidence online to substantiate that. Anyone heard anything? Calling customer service results in voicemail saying they will call back, but they don't, or haven't yet.
There are still various suppliers that have stock on 12 volt batteries but the 6 volt LFX18 BS06 has been out of stock for a year or more.

    Howdy Jason,

Wow, that is a Mike Tyson left hook to my plans/program: have 11 currently in service, and now explains the 4 more and another specialty charger on back order since February. Some of mine over 10 years old and never having had a failure, quality nor even price had to be the issue. Likely a victim of supply chain, though designed in Japan, assembled in China. Back to the drawing board.

      Hey Peter,
Yea I am hoping its just temporary due to supply chain issues as you mentioned and eventually China will get production going or they will source parts from elsewhere, but that takes time. Shorai has a great in-demand, leading technology product. Can't imagine they aren't regrouping to work out manufacturing issues.....assuming thats what the issue is.
I must have bought one of the remaining BS06s last spring for the 64 HD. The Chief battery is on year 10 without so much as a sniffle. I do have 1 spare.

One of our customers here at work source a circuit board component for oxygen concentrators which is booming business and assembled in USA and they are scambling trying to find a new USA source because nothing has been coming out of China for months.

        Howdy Jason,

What’s the old saw? Good things come to those who wait. 6 month back order just arrived from Battery Mart, though credit card only billed as of last Friday, thankfully the new prices (over double) were not applied. Shorei’s site is up and running so think they’re in business, just with sharply reduced inventory if their customary vendors are any indication. In light of this difficulty in acquiring these, I would again urge anyone installing one in their machine to fuse at 15 amps, absolutely no HD style circuit breakers.

        Cheerio,
        Peter

          I gotta ask, Peter,...

After riding a different bike every day of the week, do you have to ride yet another bike on four different days to ride them all?

Good News Peter! A buddy ordered one a few days ago from Battery Mart for $188. As you said almost double what they were. I'll let him know it should be coming.....unless they run out filling back orders. Thinking that 188 price will come down once the pipeline starts filling up.
            Thanks for the update!
