  • Help with identifying old Harley Davidson tank

Hi folks: We received a guest message to the forum asking for some help identifying a very old Harley-Davidson tank half. The person says he has no motorcycles or interest in antiques but wanted to know what he has found. Please comment if you can offer some clues.

    Thanks

Dave, is a 12 or 13 twin left tank different than a 14?
It could also be a 15 twin single speed i think.

I think all the 15 tanks had a oil pump in them

could be, i have a 15 twin, but never had a 15 single so can't confirm.

            is there a difference between 12, 13, & 14 left tanks?

Looks like a ‘14 single chain drive oil tank, but hard to tell if the mounting holes are for a ‘12-‘13 tank or ‘14. ‘14 had 1 more hole added that was used with or without the 2 speed shifter bracket mounting, but dded for 2 speed.
