You may have better luck in Probate (a.k.a. Surrogate) Court. The estate's administrator must turn over sufficient documentation to validate your purchase.

I know Joe Casola, the owner of Saints Title. He is a member of my local AMCA Chapter. He is good to deal with, I would call him and I am sure he would honestly answer any questions. He is in Chattanooga, Tn, so it would be a Tennesse title. I live in Alabama and Alabama is a non title state for anything I believe 1980 and prior.
