In the forum "12-13 Harley Single on e-bay" Smarty suggested that "SWAPS" don't happen any more so here's a swap for someone out there.
The following engine is NOT FOR SALE under any circumstances but I will swap it for a pair of genuine 1965 HD Electra-glide crankcases and a primary chaincase in good usable condition.
FOR SWAP:Henderson KJ 1200 engine # KJ 30409
The date code cast in crankcase is 3-30-29
and in sump is 3-13-29.
All the overhead valve gear is present but there is a very small chip off the gasket face where the alloy cover mates to it. Easily repaired. There are no pushrods for the overhead inlet valves and there is no carburettor.
All the pistons and con-rods are present and in their respective bores.
No 3 cylinder is externally perfect but the other three cylinders all have 3 chipped fins each.
All con-rod and main bearing caps are present and fitted to their correct journals.
The complete timing gear set is present and still in place along with the camshaft and all the cam followers/tappets.
The timing case alloy cover has KJ 1200 cast onto it with the letter W below.
The crankcase has the same series of identification marks as the timing cover.
A German Bosch magneto # FF4ARS75 is fitted but is missing the distributor cap and points cover.
The generator drive belt is still hanging from the drive pulley.
There is no oil pump with the engine.
The crankshaft is out of the engine and has the flywheel fitted but the clutch is missing.
The crankshaft has been crack tested and was found to be crack free.
The layshaft cluster gear and gear selector fork are still in place in the gearbox case but all other gearbox internals are missing.
Both the crankcase and the sump show evidence of a gearbox failure with the resulting damage to both in the gearbox area. Very poor attempts have been made to repair this damage and this has resulted in both items now requiring specialist repairs.
I hope I've sufficiently discribed this engine and if someone is interested in a swap I'll be more than happy to get photographs of it to them.
Here's Hoping, Tommo
