Does anyone have experience with installing a new fuel vave shut off and using the special allignment tool that centers the rod and spaces the valve seat? Can this be done with the tank still on the bike? Does this tool actually stretch the tank and if so what about paint cracking? Does it have to be done before you paint your tanks? Any help would be grratly appreciated. Thanks

Thanks Carl, I'll give it a try. I need to get the whole shut off unit first. Do you have any recomendations as to where I can buy one. I see J and P sells one but I'm not sure about there quality. I think you and I met at the Gunnison Colorado road run so it's nice to talk with you again. Thanks.

Gerry,
Use the original one if you have it as they are better than any repop stuff out there. They can be repaired and refurbished to work like new and as an extra bonus your reserve will work like it is supposed to. If you want to know how to fix the old one give me a call during normal business hours at 605-225-5702. By the way Gunnison was a hoot as was California and North Carolina afterwards, but then all road runs are a blast, get out there and ride them, don't hide them.
Carl
