  • Couped Up Too Long - Anti-Coronavirus Outing

A handful of us had a last minute damned-the-coronavirus outing for lunch at a local bar restaurant off the beaten path. We had to eat outside but would have anyway since it was a nice day. It was great to actually do something semi-normal. First time out on the bike for me this year. As you can see there is an "average" of at least 6' between us. LOL.

The chap second from left rode all the way down from MI for the weekend. Who can blame him for wanting to get the hell out of that state for awhile! Incidentally 3 of the guys pictured were on the 2019 Cross Country Chase.....all of which made every mile.

We have done the same two weekends in a row. Amazing how much cheaper lunch and a beer is when you bring them with you VS buying from the restaurant. Good luck to all.

        Howdy Jason,

That headlight looks an awful lot like the one at the link below which I installed on my 348 before Bike Week: an unbelievable improvement. Unlike the bulb reflector types you can source in more authentic soft white (300k) these come in bright white at 6000k which though modern looking one can see and be seen. The one discovery I’ve made with LED’s on vintage machines is they are a superb continuity tester. Whereas incandescents and even halogens are basically a glowing conductor slow to rise and slow to dim on an inconsistent power source LED’s are instantaneous revealing how lousy my NOS high/lo beam switch was that needed to be jostled to get/maintain a good connection. Not a problem with no appreciative amp draw, arcing or heat being generated, just a new found annoyance.

Good eye Peter! Yep I bought it after you referenced the link in another post over 3 months ago. This is their latest version model VC6V with standard lens. https://vintagecarleds.com/shop/7-in...headlight-kit/

The light output is incredible Not just benefit at night but really makes the bike more visible during the day.

And funny you mentioned about them being a continuity tester as I learned same. After install the low beam was very dim and flickering and I thought maybe defective because after all, the old GE4030 didn't care! I contacted Vintage LED and they told me I was probably losing voltage to the low beam circuit and sure enough it was only at 5.7 volt. A little TLC to the connection terminal under headlamp housing and it was all good.
