Buddy Holly fan here. Great story about the bike. Did not know about it. Thanks for the info. Great music also.

Not only died with the music Rick, but also those brand spankin' New 1958 Duo Glides. Having just completed a world tour in May of 1958, Holly & the Crickets went to the Harley Davidson Dealership in Dallas, Texas--where they were blown off as tire kicking' punks with NO Money!!! Little did they realize, those legends were packing serious Cash to buy three Glides right on the spot, and ride em' back to Lubbock Texas. When they decided to take their business to Ray Miller's British Motorcycle Dealership, a woman employee recognized the band--because she was a Huge fan, and knew the boys weren't jerking the dealers chain!

If the 1958 Ariel Cyclone sold at auction for $450,000.00 in 2014, i wonder what that Glide would have peaked at if that Dallas Harley-Davidson dealer didn't fluff them off?

I had a friend that was a drug dealer in '70s and he fell in love with the new 'Low Rider' in Daytona in 1977. He went to Dick Farmer's H-D in Orlando with cash in his pocket and they ignored him because he looked like po' white trash (which he did). Before he left, he showed them his whopping roll of C-notes, and then went to H-D of Altamonte where he bought his Low Rider. I credit Johnny with getting me hooked on old Harleys. His Dad, Uncle, and Brother were all bikers and it was always a weird, but fun scene hanging with them at Roscoe's in Kissimmee.
