  • Now I remember why Haulbikes suck!

I used them a couple years ago and it took over a month to get the bike to me. Now I purchase a bike at Vegas auction and Haulbike tells me about a bunch of their problems and it could be 5 weeks to get delivery. Really my fault for thinking last time was just a fluke. I have called a few times the last few weeks to check and always at least 15- 20 minute hold time. When I signed up for the transport the lady said "should be a week or so to arrive!" Just a little review for anybody that needs transportation.
I should also mention that I only used them because of California tax issue and bike on a bill of sale that I had to use them, I had my own trailer and brought another bike home same day.

This is different from my experience having used Haul Bikes for 4-5 bikes in last 2 years. From Mecum, my knucklehead arrived after two weeks in good condition and good guy driving. Even more surprising was the arrival of a bike from Bonham’s only 5 days after the auction using Schumacher logistics. I live up in the Tacoma area.

I am confused about your issue of not transporting a vehicle sold with a Bill of Sale. I have done it many times without reprisal.

I tried to haul furniture into California. They gave me weeks of red tape to cut through. Then after all the hassle. They held at the state boarder. My truck did not have a California certification. . I need to rent a truck and switch cargo. Never again to CA. Maybe that is a problem haul bikes is having.

Chris, I think it was last year California and other states require at the auctions that if the vehicle or cycle does not have a title and sold on a bill of sale you must pay your sales tax at the auction to release. Or, you can have a shipper using a bill of lading deliver it to you. Since my motorcycle is not going on the public highway I will never register pay sales tax or license. It was much cheaper to ship than pay tax. I know a couple other guys that had to do same that bought 3-4 bikes and using shipper saved thousands. At the Bonham auction it didn't even matter you had to pay sales tax because they have a business license in Calif.

That tax law is getting enforced by most auctions now. In the past year Mr taxman has come down on them. I ran into this in Baltimore. With some garden statues. Auction tried to get a few more dollars from me. Said “ it was for tax “ i should him my client’s invoice. Paid in full. After a few choices words. His says show a bill of lading. I didn’t have one. I told that comes from. After a few more choice words he grabbed one from his desk. I filled it out and away I went.
Next time you drive by an office supply store buy a pack. It will save you a few bucks in the end.

This must be why ebay now charges tax on every item purchased. ebay never used to charge tax and then over the past couple years occasionally there would be charge for tax and in the past couple/few months ebay charges tax on every item.

Agree on the tax issue crap. Haul bike is my issue now. Just sitting in the Vegas warehouse since auction at Mecum. I heard that many trucks went out full to pacific NW area and others. These since came back and still I wait.

i've used haulbikes numerous times & am waiting for them to pick up one of my new bikes now. they typically take 30-45 days to complete a shipment & tell you that up front. i have yet to have any problems with them.

When I signed up for them to deliver the lady said it should be delivered in about a week or so. What BS. Glad you had good luck.
