What the heck is this thing????

Can anyone tell me what this thing is? It was in a box that contained both Indian parts and slant top RL/WL transmission parts.
Looks like some sort of shifter shaft to me but make? model? years?

Mark,
I think that is a 34453-52 shifter shaft.
52 to early 79, Foot shift 4 speed, foot shift, some 1980 models.
