Dear Steve, I'm not on Amazon but of course can suggest 'The VL Years' with 1500 pages in four volumes, all 113 Enthusiast magazines from August 1929 to December 1938, all the VL new model dealer announcements, color brochures for each year, technical changes by year, color photos of good restored and unrestored machines, and a list of the surviving 1200 VL engine numbers. Volume 4 even has a lot of early knucklehead stuff for overhead valve fans. Check out the VL Heaven Website, which will be updated in the coming days as I find out how many pages and what Volumes 3 and 4 will cost to print. There are already orders for full sets, which I'm aiming to get out in time for the holiday season.

I have to agree with badger34 on Herb Wagner's book "Harley-Davidson 1930-1941". It is by far, my favorite book by Mr. Wagner, and could very well be my favorite motorcycle book. Herb captured a dynamic period of time in Harley-Davidson's history. His use of pictures, and text paint a vivid picture of motorcycle life in the epicenter of Harley-Davidson factory culture, the mid-West, club life, and people who loved motorcycles, and that life style before it got all screwed up by post war A-holes, and 1%'ers. Every time I open that book by Mr. Wagner, I'm stuck looking at it for hours.

A book of Alberto Varga's Pin Up Girls is always good.

Totally agree with Eric and Badgers choice. I'm on my third time read of this book. If Herbert writes it..it's worth buying. Never gets old.

Definitely great books mentioned above. I found Jerry Hatfield’ Inside Harley-Davidson, 1903-1945 (ISBN 0879383887) an amazing book on the MoCo’ early engineering evolution. First reading took 4 days.....couldn't put it down.

I also agree on Herbert Wagners '30-'41 book. At the time it came out it was the best book I've ever read on true H-D history. A great read, one of the best ever, and I have hundreds of MC books covering many makes and eras. A small portion of the books, most of the H-D are here. Oh, And I have received the first issue of Steve Slocombe's new books as well as just receiving a copy of Martin Bogaert's "American in Paris..." Wow!
