does anyone know the production numbers for the 1930/31 cast iron outboard motor stand?

Walt, I'm not sure that anyone knows what specifically you are referring to. This is generally an antique motorcycle forum. Sorry, but that's all the help I can provide.

I assume he is referring to the Indian produced outboards and the display stand. However I do not have an answer.

Indian motorcycle made outboard motors in 1930 and 1931. The dealerships were given cast iron display stands for these motors. I have a 1931 outboard and just acquired a cast iron stand. Two motors and stands can be seen in the Springfield museum. I was looking for just how many were produced.

I've never seen a production number on Indian outboards. I think they are more of a curiosity to Indian enthusiasts; just like the fishing reels, refrigerators, and shock absorbers. Indian was in bad financial shape at that time, and Indian management was anxious to bring new products into their enormous factory. From what I've read, the non motorcycle products, like the outboards were a financial failure because they were too expensive, and no better than less expensive Evinrude, and Johnson outboards. When E. Paul Dupont took over Indian, all of those non motorcycle projects were shelved, and forgotten. If there were any records, they were probably disposed of in 1953. However, the Indian outboard motor has to be one of the most beautiful ever made.
