  • Allan Girdler's Book harley davidson indian wars question...

Okay, I like this book, but like most some things dont seem right.

the picture of the hillclimb knuckle on page 140...
the caption says its a streched frame.

    its not.

    or is it?
it just looks stretched coz theres no oiltank and the fender isnt there giving it the illusion of a stretch...

i love that bike, it rules

i am actually buildin a bike based on that bike...

    just figured id ask!

I'm not an expert on Knuckles, mine is not even together, but it looks to be stretched a few inches. ...just my two cents worth...it is a cool looking bike!

51-53 tanks. Frame and front probably of same vintage. I think the frame gives the illusion of being stretched due to lack of stock oil tank. I used to attend many hillclimbs in the seventies, never saw an Indian climber. Too bad, I really like the sound a cheif motor makes when its pulling a grade.

Like Inline4nut said, is it even a knuck frame. Maybe its the picture that makes it look longer, hard to tell. Maybe it is a modified frame.

I agree about the tanks being '51-'53, and the frame probably being the same vintage,it is definitely not a knuckle frame. Check out the size of the rear sprocket. The jockey lever must have made this thing a real hand-full.
