One click & it's big and I still have MY photo, no Photobucket. Can't post pics on CaiMag, don't care.

If I were only posting on here I wouldn’t care either. However I also post on some other sites and want to keep my pictures in one place.

The question that I now have is can I edit the links in my old threads or not?

        Admin, can I do this?

So, what is the difference in the way the photos are posted? On Tom's and Kunzog's it won't let me view them unless logged on. Chris's, nuklhd, and Rich's, I can click on and see them while logged off.
Rich, yours is posted differently than the others? It is not posted as an attachment?
Also interested in the answer to John's question about editing and re=posting photos in our threads.
          Thanks everyone!

032315 WM.jpgI'm computer illiterate so i just clicked on the "Insert image" at the top, selected a photo from "My pictures" in my computer, "upload" and there it is. Same method works on Facebook and ADVrider. It must have something to do with the website we're posting on.

I have all the pictures on my laptop and as an experiment I just tried to replace one of the PooBucket pictures which is listed as deceased in the 66 Shovel engine rebuild. I think the forum setting of "time limit on edit " will mean that we will have to suffer the holes in the thread on our forum.
The ease of using PooBucket for hosting pictures on the club forum was a lure, as it saved members from logging in, but in the end, logging in isn't really that big of a chore.

I opted for the 50 Buck option and my photos are still here.

John - I am following the thread and understand your concerns. You then asked your question about going back. I assume you can at anytime unless I am missing something. Let me know if I need a forehead whack to better understand.

I have thousands of pictures on Photobucket...$60 a year...I don't have a problem with that.

I don't see why you can't go back and edit those photo links, editing is infinite. Again unless I am not understanding your question.

I think we need to experiment on posting and editing and keep on discussing it on this thread.

Steve Little - "time limit on edit" that you mentioned could be something we could have changed. How did you happen on the "time limit on edit" function so I can look into it? What I need to do is be able to explain to our web developer what is going on here so he can assist.

Keep the dialogue going on this folks so we can try to fix it the way that best meets our needs.

                              Mike,

Following is an excerpt of something I wrote in the Electrical forum that explains what I believe is needed:

Originally posted by BoschZEV View Post

Unfortunately, the site functions today essentially like a wordprocessor of the 1980s before the WYSIWYG of WordPerfect came along, i.e. with the embedded formatting codes of WordStar. This shouldn't be acceptable.

In the last ten years everyone has had a camera with them all the time, resulting in gazillions of photographs, and fundamentally changing the way people communicate. Unfortunately, this site and others have no more functionality than a 30-year old wordprocessor, "upgraded" only in that thumbnails can be attached in a row to the end of a post. What is sorely needed is a site that works like a modern wordprocessor rather than like WordStar.

Our bikes have to be from the 20th Century to qualify for the AMCA, but that doesn't mean the Forum's software has to as well.

Hello Mike. The problem that I am having is that in order to restore the hotlinks in my threads I need to be able to edit the thread so that I can change the link.

When I post a new comment I have the edit function, usually its to correct a spelling mistake. However after a period of time (I am not sure how long) the ability to edit does not seem to be available any more.

My question is: Is it possible for me to gain the ability to edit my old threads so that I can restore the pictures or will I have to abandon my build thread history?
