  • AMCA History Book

As a brand new A.M.C.A. member, I wanted to learn all about the organization, after I joined in December, 2004.

So, on December 17, 2004, I sent payment-in-full, via Priority Mail, to Turner Publishing, Puducah, Kentucky . . . for a book that was being published about the A.M.C.A.

I remember reading about the soon-to-be-published book, from a full page ad in the A.M.C.A. magazine, back then. When I checked by phone, with Turner Publishing, last January, to make sure they received my payment, the young lady on the phone promised the book would be delivered before the, "2nd Quarter," of this year.

It's been so long, that I keep forgetting that I sent the Cashiers Check before last Christmas, so I thought I would ask this forum if anybody has actually received, or seen the book?

    Thanks,
    R. Smith

Good question...I think I vaguely remember plopping down some hard earned green for one of those!

      Original Ad for Book

Louie - I found the original ad, in the Winter 2004 issue of the A.M.C.A. magazine.

It appears on page 23 of that issue, where the company asks for $57.95 + $6.95 shipping & handling = $64.90 up front. The ad goes on to say that, "Your copy will be rushed to you as soon as it's off the press."

        Hi All:
I have just spoken to Turner Publishing yesterday, and the book is at the printers. It has taken far longer that we had hoped, but apparently will be well worth the wait. Its content was from you, the members, so it should be good. Getting suitable material took a bit of time.
        Thanks for your patience.

          Turner Publishing

          Interesting note -

I just called Turner Publishing myself about the A.M.C. A. book many of us have had cash deposits on for 8+ months, (412 Broadway St, Paducah, KY 42001 - Phone (270) 443-0121).

At 2:30 PM today, Wednesday, August 3, I spoke with a very nice lady at Turner Publishing named "Leslie." Leslie told me that in fact the A.M.C.A. book was currently being
"reviewed" by the "A.M.C.A. Officials" and when the manuscript was "returned" to Turner Publishing from the A.M.C.A. with, "their corrrections," Turner would have it finished sometime after the 3rd quarter of 2005, or September, 2005 ??

So at least we now have a possible delivery date direct from the printer.

I ran "Turner Publishing's" name through Yahoo and found this bit of information. Guess we aren't the only group waiting for this company to come through. Just hope not too many AMCA members have already sent them up-front money . . . . . .
