  • Help with old transmission

    Hi Folks:

We received a request from outside the AMCA Forum to help identify a motorcycle transmission and any range of sale value. If you could please comment and/or contact the owner directly with your thoughts it would be appreciated.

The owner is Mike Danciu - mdanciu@earthlink.net

I have four more photos from Mike and can provide them in a reply to this post so you see all nine photos.

That is a 1926-1929 style Harley Davidson JD three speed with clutch. This particular one has a 1927 date code stamped in if I'm reading it correctly. It is missing the kicker lever and gear but other than that it looks to be pretty complete and in decent condition from what I can see. 2/3 of the value is determined by the condition of the gears inside and the condition of the parts inside of the clutch.
I would say that in its current state and depending on the true condition of the gears (teeth and bearing races), it's worth $600-$800
