Tail Light Housing, I Think???????

Anyone ever see a housing like this. I am assuming it is for a British bike since it has Made in England cast into it. No numbers or any other identifying marks I could find. It was in an auction lot I won. Any clues would be appreciated.

They are called Sparto tail lights. My knowledge is they were originally made in England and now reproduced in Japan. As far as what they were originally made for, I always thought just an aftermarket accessory but not positive, I'm sure someone else will educate us both. You see alot of bob jobs with these. I would be interested if you decide to sell it.
