Need help finding a Cad plater. PLEASE HELP !

Hello fellow members,
I am desperately seeking a cadmium plater ! I know there are lots of us restoring motorcycles here in Colorado that are purists and insist on correct finish on their hardware like me. I had a fellow in Ohio that WAS doing this but for some reason has quit and that has left me hanging with half of the correct hardware and the other half needing refinishing
Any advice or leads would be most appreciated and I would be in your dept ...................... for a few beers or maybe dinner at the next road run or ?? interesting you should post. i live in ft.collns, i just had a conversation today with tom at Colorado cadmium plating, he said they do cad motorcycle work all the time, along with aircraft, etc. 303.469.1749

When Tracy at Cascade stopped doing Cad, I went to Elyria Plating, right around the corner from Cascade. The work is excellent and quick, they do mail order from all over. 440-365-8300

I use Colorado Plating in Broomfield, used to be Aero Propeller Repair: http://coloradoplating.com/

Cad plating is still the required finish for many propeller parts, so look for that service in or around airports that work on piston engine aircraft.

why is cad the required finish on some airplane parts ? i might add, their work is beautiful, their turn around is FAST and they are friendly personable guys.

Cad plating is a hold over from WWII military specs for small parts. I talked with the guys at the propeller shop and they cussed the mil spec. The govt. doesn't want to change it so they're stuck with it. The propeller guys claim there are much better finishes available but no go. Good for us, bad for them!
