  • Repop Offset Springers??

I have a ’56 FL in an early ‘73 swingarm frame which I hard-tailed and would like run an offset springer. I saw this repop offset springer on ebay and wanted to ask if anyone has had any experience with this source/product or even seller? The listing states they are made in Germany? I have occasionally seen on ebay, repop springers coming out of India. Not sure if these are one in the same. My concern is structural sturdiness and quality (I know, sounds like I’m smoking something! haha). I would prefer an OEM; but, my thin wallet holds me back! Any thoughts or recommendations? Maybe just continue saving......
    Thanks,
    William

I have had a lot of genuine H-D spring forks, but I have no experience with reproduction spring forks. I have heard that there were forks made in Europe that were of good quality, and the ebay pictures show what looks like a well made piece. When it comes to forks, (and I'm talking about chopper forks), I have never heard of a fork failure due to just riding around. . . . Frame failures, yes; fork failures, no. Of course every fork will fail with a collision, but normal riding should be no problem. I have a 1911 Merkel, and it has a frail fork by even bicycle standards, but the damn thing is 105 years old and I trust it implicitly. If you want to make that ebay fork look legit, find a genuine #15 and later spring fork, find genuine rockers, and strip the powder coat in favor of paint. It would probably fool the experts.

Eric, Thanks for input. I saw this springer on ebay......listed as original. I'm just not that well versed in springers. I prefer to spend wisely once!

William, I'm sure the fork in that last link you posted is the real deal, and genuine H-D springer forks always pull in big money. . . Obviously, I sold too many of mine, too early For your application, I would get the reproduction fork since you are going for the look and not correctness.

I've got what I believe to be a WW springer purchased at Oley many years ago. At first the rockers were binding and the legs needed tweaking to operate smoothly. It works fine now. BTW, I saw a Durfee break the lower links.
