Anyone ever heard of a DLX55?

It would be one of the last bronze models, as potmetal models were introduced in June of '29.
No matter what it was intended for, the AMCA judges will spit at it, since it isn't listed in available literature.

It would be interesting to the rest of us to know if it is a 1" or 1 1/4" model.
And pics of each side and the top would be greatly appreciated!

It is a bronze body with 1 1/4" throat and a 7/8" Venturi. It's on my bike so I will try to get some pics tomorrow.

Cotton, actually the opening measures 1 11/16 and it is a standard 3 hole flange. Here are some pictures.

The model stamp pic is most appreciated!

The "script" HS knob is significant, as many 1 1/4" models were not. (My 'mystery' DLX61 has none. Both may be "export" or "replacement" models, and equally distained and dismissed by AMCA judges.)

The square cable block needs to be reproduced, Folks. (Hint, hint....)

Your nickel should look great after a gentle vinegar soak and scrub. (Then some Johnson's Wax, of course.)

Don't know about that late fuel filter though!

Wish I could properly replicate that chokeshaft peening. (It was a spinning press tool, or so I am told. The shaft slot and screw hole machining must have been cut (u)after(/u) the thumbtab was mounted, as otherwise things crush.)

1 11/16" should just be the choke housing portion of the carb, whereas the portion that holds the venturi and throttledisc should be about 1 3/8".

I acquired a Schebler book about a year ago. It's about 50 pages or so. Could presume that you already have one of those, but please acknowledge whether...

Pray tell, is there a Schebler book in our library?

The 1928 Schebler manual was reproduced a few years ago, but of course misses the 1928-32 period before Harley went to the Linkert. Your DLX 55 looks like maybe a 1928-30 Indian item. I've seen these bronze Scheblers on similar period Harleys as DLX 45, 58, 66 and 72. The DLX 80 used on later 1930 VLs has the pot metal body which Indian persevered with through 1940, while Harley switched to the bronze Linkert M2 in 1932.

Just to make it more confusing, the Service Station Manual lists the lift lever as DL61!
