I'm aware that 100 XLA's were produced in 1964.
Don't know about other years.
Maybe someone else on here has more info.

They did make some Sportster's for the Army. One is pictured in the HD "Official" history book, as I recall.

Rare machine... and certainly looks plausible!

I've judged one of these before as an unrestored machine, and maybe this is the one. Nice piece.

There is usually one next to the Hummer Club tent at Oley the last couple of years and he has had it for sale but so far no takers. I have seen pics of them before but that is the only one I have seen in person and it looks legit to me.

There definitely were 1957 XLA Models. here is a picture of a few with more in the crates behind them. Notice the nomenclature on the crates. They are 750CC. Same XL cylinders but shorter stroke flywheels.

Notice what it says in the nomenclature on the crate.
"MOTORCYCLE SOLO 45 CUBIC INCH
1 EACK PKD 5/57
SERIAL NUMBER 57XLA2592"
My question is does anybody have a parts list for the 1957 XLA that will show which engine parts are different? The casting number on the cylinder is the same as the 900CC. So either it has really thick cylinders or a shorter stroke. Who can help solve this mystery?
