Chris:
In a virtual sense, I love you like a brother.
That said, I hate you.
Cheers,
Sirhr
PS Harry.... all the alpha-hotel skiers do for me is empty my favorite breakfast place (a gas station... but that's how I roll) of Sausage biscuits every morning like locusts in ancient Egypt stripping cornfields (my people call it maize); raise my property taxes into the stratosphere, block my roads with Priuses on which they attach Thule Racks which suck 10 MPH off their silly little cars; and generally act like peckerheads 24 x 7 because they're from Greenwich, making them more important than us. If every skier vaporized from VT, I would gain 20 minutes of not sitting in traffic per winter day, lower my BP 7.6 points and not have to pay higher electric bills because we subsidize an insurance company (aka AIG) that almost tanked the whole U.S. Economy and claims to 'own' our mountain for their snowmaking endeavors designed to use ammonia and compressed air to make ersatz snow. Personally, I think we should embrace Organic Snow (made with no faux-snowmaking apparatus) and when we have a bad year with nothing but non-snowmaking-enhanced organic snow, flatlanders should send us money every weekend just because we are obeying their vegan snow precepts and not creating snow using, say, fracking. Glad you make some dollars off the flatlanders... someone needs to. But I will argue that once they understand we don't like them, we just like the dollars in their pockets, we'll get along fine. Until that time, all they do is cost me $$ and annoy me like insects that need to be steered towards a giant bug light... oh, wait, the flatlanders up here think Neon lights are tacky so we can't have bug lights that are visible from a town or state road. Did I mention that I am not making that up?
Sorry, Chris, for the rant on your fine post. Then again, it's warm, sunny and rideable where you are. So did I mention I hate you?
PPS: Please chalk up all controversial remarks to seasonal affectedness disorder. Yes, that's SAD. We used to call it cabin fever. But the flatlanders had to come up with a catchy acronym and import a bunch of pshrinks to tell us that we're SAD because we are buried in 16 feet of snow and it was -20 degrees (F) last night. At this rate I won't see "Little Elvis" until June.
PPPS: If I don't get some sun, soon, I'll get rickets. Understandable here in VT where rickets, Lumbego and Dropsy are still higher than the national average. At least we're ahead of Arkansas. Or not.
Cheers,
Sirhr

Hi Kyle. I'm probably OK with a pick and am getting pretty close back to normal. I have been back to work for 4 months and am having eye muscle surgery in may that will hopefully straighten out my right eye and fix my double vision. Guess I better enjoy every night is twins night at the t*tty bar while I still can. I got some work done on repairing the 39 and am waiting for some warmer weather to get the front fender fixed and primed so I can have it painted. I'll be back on it this spring but also plan on riding the 40 a lot. Got to make up for all I missed last summer and also this year makes 40 years that I,ve had the 40.Originally posted by koanes View PostGee Thanks Bob. I won't forgive you for this until well into spring. I spent half my thaw days last year digging trenches with a pick and a Johnson bar to get the water to run away from the garage and shop instead of through. Unless we have a moderate meltdown, with no rain, I'm going to have more trouble this year. Bob, as long as you are not enjoying the deep snow on your sled, how are you with a pick?
Fillibuster, You are right crutches do suck but you are also right about counting our blessings. It always could be worse.

I've only been on the crutches for a week, and it's driving me absolutely CRAZY !!! Can't wrench, can't clear the driveway, even have trouble bathing!Originally posted by koanes View PostGee Thanks Bob. I won't forgive you for this until well into spring. How I pity the less fortunate! It may take effort, but we MUST count our blessings, and continue to consider those in lesser circumstances.
Flip side: I sorted through all of my amc mags since 1989, and found a lot of related stuff long thought lost. Found 2 Subject Indexes (I knew I had them!), compiled by Doug Strange, early 90's, ... now I wish I had earlier issues to read. .... time for a library cruise?? ... I've done some reading (until my eyes burn), studied some computer basics (still an idiot), and sorted out about 100# of paper (for re-cycle) from my office. What would really make me feel good is if I could burn old tax records. I'm turning into a pyro-maniac, now. Sihr, let's blend those red and blue books (all!) and light 'em up!

I am afraid its my fault we are having this winter. I love to ride snowmobile also and due to a deer hitting me on my 39EL last summer and almost killing me I am not able to ride my snowmobile this winter. That is why we are having the perfect winter for it. Sorry about that .Originally posted by harleytoprock View PostI want to know who's been praying for snow so I can kick their ass.

Pierce! Those are the very same people who give me money to pay my bills! ....and keep your town going....and clog your roads with traffic....and raise the prices on your groceries! They don't ride motorcycles, which explains a lot.
As many of them are vegan and thus can be knocked over with a stiff breeeze, kicking their asses is no great task. Have at it. Thump a couple for me.
Folks I deal with in the ski industry own lots of motorsickles....good folks, too. Ya got your stereotypin' hat on tonight!
Now, hows about a progress report on that Chief?!?
. I'd be wicked stoked to know how it's coming?

No... c. 1780 is the worst winter recorded in North America... the year after Valley Forge. Sucked if you were living in winter quarters in a tent. With no food. And Hessians shooting at you.
On the other hand, I had to burn all my Al Gore books to stay warm. So it's the longest winter I remember.
Cheers,
Sirhr

Last time I saw ya you were smiling ear to ear at Jefferson. This has been one longggg winter. Am I going to get to buy you a beer a Oley? Mama Bean is coming as well as Beagle, Beagle. I broke down and bought a slide in camper for the pick'em up truck. BobLast edited by Robert Luland; 03-05-2014, 07:40 PM.
