  • Stolen 47 Chief

Just saw this news report on local CBS station in Pittsburgh, The town it was stolen from is maybe 40 miles just northeast of the city. What a kick in the kahonies this would be especially before Christmas. Hope the link works. Watch the video also. I've often wondered how safe it is to leave the old bikes unattended. No doubt someone knew his routine.

It is never "safe" to leave a motorcycle or anything else of value unattended as a general rule. We as a group look out for each others property at events, keeping an eye out for things that do not look right. It is just a fact of life there are people out there that will steal, it is up to all of us to try to stop it. Not everyone has insurence to replace the value, not to mention the personal attachment we have with our Motorcycles. Hope He gets it back. Shelby

That is a real bummer... it sucks that we have to hear stories like that. I hope it surfaces and is returned.

Some on here are probably aware of the theft in the Newburgh N.Y. area of my friends 2 Indians, a 48 and a 53, a few years ago. It took constant diligent prodding by my friend to get the NY state police to do their job. He was lucky to have a bulldog of an investigator to follow up on all leads however an article in the local paper got one of the persons involved that believe it or not, did not know he was involved in a theft. He was told it was a repo on a loan. He was also 17-18 yrs old so it could be understandable that his naivity was played upon. He ended up getting his 53 back in pieces but the 48 was long gone, sold off as parts, on George's list. Let's hope this man fairs as well and gets his bike back. Keep an eye out on the various websites and maybe we can help this guy out.
