Bill, they were a popular aftermarket accessory. Here is a picture of a pair of lenses. I think the outside diameter is around 3/4 inch

No Bill, those are large marker light lenses but thanks for checking.

I just confirmed that the lenses available through the National Motorcycle Museum in Iowa are indeed glass. In fact, they went through a lot of trouble to make sure they were correct but they are only available in yellow and red.
