    Rob!

Davenport vendors receive their Iowa sales tax forms with their vendor packets.

Since my booth is mostly "promotional", my sales are low enough that I need not increase my prices to cover the tax.

But I will be paying more than usual this year, as my grand-daughter's framed prints nearly sold out!
(Gotta buy a new printer, so she can grow her business next year...)

After the 16 hour drive back to Texas, I am very pleased to see this thread has good reporting on the meet. I am sure the real numbers will come out, Thursday by 12 noon was packed in areas never opened before and the field was very full in the normal field(s). The heat forced some smaller vendors to head for a motel and relief from the heat but the next morning the field filled back up on Friday (remember 2001? when it was 103 degrees).

The issues facing vendors getting to the meets is becoming increasingly dificult, weight limits vary from state to state, and are not an issue when scales are closed in most southern states, over time routs are planned for the least hassles. Avoid Kansas at all costs if possible, and know exactly what to say to their questions that stops more detailed questions

The cash issue can be worked out with taking out a loan at bank to buy parts or bikes for your collection and carry the loan paperwork with you seperate from the extra cash. Most banks will allow cd backed loans for 2.5% intrest. better than 100% loss.

Having your National Membership card next to your drivers lisence, when they ask where you are going show the card and say you are part of a not for profit exibition of old parts and bikes.

All of us vendors have to at least try harder to avoid the hassles, the Obama highway plan was to set up speed traps with trafic cone rentals for miles with a smokie collecting outragious fines for fake work zones like Illinois and Indiana to name a few, 375 minimum fine? when no workers are there.

Davenport will always be my favorite swapmeet with Eustis second. With the National trying to shrink the meets to two days makes it hard to have the vending/buying time along with the above mentioned Social visiting with old friends or really talking to others about projects or parts back home. These meets are about networking with like minded people.

I commend the positive thing being said on this thread, we are all in the same boat with a lot of holes, some need to keep the boat from sinking while others stop the problems we can.

Thanks to all who stopped by the Chreokee Chapter Meet and Greet Booth at Davenport.

I did check with the info booth and they told me they had sold out of spaces again this year. There were some empty spaces but that is common as last minute changes happen and some use for parking. Am sure it will be the same for years to come.
One of the guys next to me works at Polaris and had a new Indian he rode in on. Must be nice to work there.
          See you there next year.

if your driving the last 4 days of the month you can go ahead and paint a red large red dot on you vehicle. i got popped in ct. on the 28. i still dont know what the tickets are for.the officer took my license and insurance. when he came back 20 minutes later he had a stack of papers with violation code #'s.. he never said a word to me or the guy with me. paper say's i have 10 days to pay.
if your driving to davenport you drive 1 or 2 days at the end of the month. there is gonna be some ticket issues. these issues can spoil someones weekend. anyway glad everybody had fun. i hope at some point time allows for me to get back to davenport.

Been going to Davenport a short time compared to a lot of people(15 years with the last 10 as a vendor)...I thought the meet was great....I do believe the heat hurt Fridays business some but all in all a great time...I had to leave at noon Saturday but was surprised that there were more venders still there than the last two years on Saturday...I'll be back again next year as always....my favorite meet by far...
