  • Erwin Baker and the Origins of the Cannonball Run

For those who do not follow Cannonball racing events, you may not know the story of how transcontinental races came to be called Cannonball Runs. Turns out it has nothing to do with cannons at all, but a motorcycle racing pioneer from the 1910's. His name was Erwin Baker and he set many records piloting both motorcycles and cars across the country. This was back when riding across the US was not as simple as hoping on the interstate.
