  • more scams??????

There are two people advertising on George's excellent site who I sent emails to and promptly got emails returned due to "permanent failure" etc errors. Are there that many fakes and frauds out there that every other listing we respond to is a fraud? I had a guy call me collect a few years ago and tell me he could secure a 1908 Indian twin and a 1930s four cylinder in the Kansas City area if I would forward $30,000.00 to him...... when I said "are you insane????? I will fly out there this afternoon and meet you", he got really irate and started yelling at me (on my nickel) then hung up...... apparently one of the drawbacks to listing a wanted ad on George Pardos's otherewise excellent site, you get mother=&***&&%^$s who think you are so stupid that you will send your literal life savings to them. In short, I am disgusted!!!
Ok, I had my rant, it's Friday night, I had a 70 hour week at my shop, I'm tired and cranky. Anybody feel like contributing?????
I'm also crabby because I was too busy to go to Davenport (the best little swap meet in the world!)

Hey Mike, You crusty old crank!

email may have been incorrect or changed.

I'm waiting for D-Port photos. Will post link.

Scam of the week! Spend 4 hours time w/ body fill and primer paint to fill holes and perfect a 30 dollar part to scam someone on ebay to make a few pennies and alot of enemys.

A very special place in hell for all these people.

On the lighter side I'm thinking of posting a few of the "bar bet" m/c tricks that my crafty grandfather (king of the boilermaker) taught me when I was nine yrs old. These are sure fire winners when you are in need of late night beverage money or need gas money to get back on the road (pre c-card days). Trade secrets by gosh!. Do you think anyone would be interested? Great fun!
He also taught all the girls how to spit. My mom was sooooo proud. hee-hee....

Once I get the eng back in the scout - i'll have a great machine for demo.

Crusty old Crank???!!! Maybe that's why I don't like much that is newer than 1920 or so! You guys and your so called modern stuff! Let me tell you, it's all been done before. Maybe it's becaue I just spent the last two days working on a customer's project (using a 108 cu in harley clone engine) and someone's bad idea of a motor mount for which I have to devise a solution..... I'm not having much luck and it makes me cranky. Sometimes the best solution is to start over and do it right, but customers don't usually want to hear that when they have a bunch of $$ tied up in a project! This is a prototype vehicle that is supposed to go into projection soon (run for the hills!!!) Although I'm sure we will work it out, no one wants to backtrack and admit that the bell housing and motor mount system (which was inherited from the original developers, no longer involved...) seems to me to be seriously flawed. I'm not an engineer, but I know that when I look at something and think "that does not look strong enough for a big v-twin" something is not right. Oh to be able to play with tried and true designs from the early 20th century! And yes I'd ride a bomb proof scout with the trustworthy helical drive primary any day of the year, of any year!

When I bolt in engine ( a month?) I'll post some pictures of antique bike shenanigans. This is parking lot action. So you could have some real fun.

I was looking at this the other night. Interesting stuff. Made me think Vindian. Why they used that front susspention set up?
