Got that right. Too much money to camp and too many cops. Got chased by the rental cops just for goosing the throttle a touch. Seemed like vendor attendance was down too. Not as good as it was the first few years for sure.

Yeah well the two guys collecting the $25.00 fee for electrical use, when asked what the fee was because someone misunderstood them, immediately got an attitude, when they were told that , that kind of attitude is what stops people from coming back the response was "I hope none of you motorcycle people ever come back", too bad the remarks of some sour it for the rest!

I was vending Fri from 8 till about 3 covered my **** up & went for a slow cruise around the grounds as the crowds gathered I hit the siren on my 45 police chief & tha crowds would clear a path thus making it safe for everyone as I was heading up to my spot some "A" Hole security Guard named KALE ( Like the seaweed) literally ran & JUMPED in front of my MOVING Bike I had to make a Quick Turn & stop to avoid mowing him down, as I was trying not to hit him he Grabbed the handled bars, luckily I have ridden long enough to control my bike & avoided any injuries, he then started to SCREAM at me that I have been told 3 times today not to use the siren then A whole situation developed, when I told him this bike has been parked the whole day till now, I was asked for id & refused till they called the police but Don ( One of the guys running this for AMCA asked me to just show it to him & it would be best for the club so I did) My Question is How does a Siren hurt anyone ? in fact it promotes Safety to spectators & members alike, & How does allowing a Security Guard the right, to JUMP IN FRONT OF A MOVING MOTORCYCLE thus endangering the well being of the rider, & surrounding bystanders not a HUGE Safty ISSUE ? Had I not been able to stop & hit this Idiot if he was injured who would be at fault ? ( he ran & JUMPED in front of me to stop me) The best is the next morning a little green car rode by me & was running a siren I ran up to the security guard that was not more than 20 feet behind the car & demanded they treat him the same as I was treated he seemed puzzled as to what the problem with sirens where & when I relayed the story to him to asked which security guard it was I told him I forgot his name but he was some short little fat asshole, & he immediately responded with " That Must Be Kale" so not ALL the security guards are A holes but some really are

They really like to fluff up their muscles when they are around us bikers. It must be some sort of issue with these individuals own inadequacies in life. Too bad, it scares nice folks off.
Maybe we need to address a new venue, one that doesn't have such intolerance for our kind.

            Gentlemen:
It used to be (in generality) that young men who chose a career in Law Enforcement were born and raised in the country, were a Boy Scout or FFA Member, or even served our country in the Military, hunted and fished and knew the right way to use guns, had God fearing, church going parents and truly wanted to serve the public in a freindly positive way. I am told by many age mature friends who are Captains, Chiefs etc... in law enforcement today that they can just not find enough good officer material anymore. Crime is growing and the governmental agencies they work for are forcing them to hire people whom they would normally not hire.

Today's law enforcement candidates (in generality) are born about a foot too short, were picked on as a kid, enjoy the badge far too much (confidence, attitude and authority it gives them) and the only experience they had previously with weapons were video games in their bedrooms and hence we have what you experienced at the meet. I have personally called and later mailed registered letters to the Chief of Police at local City's where meets were held (and copied the Chamber of Commerce, City Council and sent a copy to the local newspaper) and lodged a formal complaint that sets forth certain positive comments and facts. 1) Attendees are 99% good people. 2) No one is impressed with your "boys" badge, gun or attitude. 3) Most attendees are ages 50-70+ and their motorcyle is worth more than you pay "the boy" annually. 50-70+ age attendees do not tend to have enough stamina to fight long 4) The meet brings thousands of people to your city, fills up your motel rooms and restaurants and brings much needed revenue and hotel tax money to your law enforcement budget and 5) Congratulations...Your city is the worst at being friendly of all the City's we travel to in our RV's each year.

            Just my 2 cents....

Every year same problems, no other meet gets these bad reviews. I swore I would never return 2 years ago.

Steve, well said and I am sure that the letter was not responded to from the kind city folks wearing big badges and little ones too.

Possible Mistake #1 - You swerved to miss him? Sounds like everyone there would have liked it better if you made him a fender ornament. Mail a couple of small ball bearing balls to the Chief of Police for Christmas and ask him to give them to his officer "Barney Fife". You are pretty sure Kale lost his years ago.

From my experience, many "security guards/rent-a-cops" are law enforcement wannabees that could never make it in the real world. The temporary badge does wierd things to their head.
Actual LE officers working off-duty generally have a lot more common sense.

i was with dewey and bob when some fairgrounds guy ask for the electric fees. that guy should have been pushed in front of a motorcycle. i think the club members did a great job with the event but you cant polish a turd. dutches county is a money sucking turd.

The problem with Rhinebeck is that it is held in Rhinebeck. Nothing against the organizers. I'm sure they work their asses off to put on the meet. The problem seems to be the venue. I went the first two years and it was an ok meet. But have you noticed that every year just after the meet, everyone is talking about that years drama. The time of year and general area of the country is a great place for a national meet. It just needs to be moved to a more rural fairgrounds.
                        Just my two cents.

Believe me If It took a lot of " MATURITY" not to run him over.
I would like to say that the problems are all "SECURITY GUARD" Issues not the local police, I requested that they call the police but was denied that right, As far as the local police patrols I have NO Issues with them, I spoke to several as well as the motor cop John & the ones I spoke to are all top notch & were nothing but polite & cordial to me, Now the wannabees that's a whole different story

I think I mentioned something about moving it three years ago when I put the poll up. The lets move it people won 4 to 1. I haven't been back since until I got talked into it. As a vendor, I will never return. No sales, No customers, To many rules, To many Cops! I didn't have a minute of fun. No more. Bob L

I was "talked to" several times by an older security guard, once regarding glass bottles, another time he asked me to slow down and then he asked if I was the guy with the siren on my bike (OZ!). He was actually OK and explained that "they" were really watching things this year. I can't for the life of me figure out why they have such a problem wit a certain individual's siren (OZ!)...I was admittedly goosing it and laying a bit of rubber down on occasion and the Siren Guy (OZ!) got it way worse then I did....
