  • Get the Word Out

AMCA Chapters can now get the word out about their events in a new section of the Community Forum.

A new “Chapter Events” category has been created where registered Chapters can tell members from coast to coast about their upcoming events, ranging from Saturday rides to swap meets and bike shows.

The idea behind this new Forum feature is to give Chapters a way to attract other AMCA members in the area to antique-motorcycle events near them. But the Chapter Events section will also serve as a guide to AMCA members traveling this summer who would like to meet up with other AMCA members in their travels.

The new Chapter Events section, located in the General AMCA Forum, can be used to promote any kind of organized antique-bike activity run by any recognized AMCA Chapter. AMCA Chapter officials who are registered for the Forum can post a new event by clicking on the Chapter Events link and then selecting the option to “Post New Thread.” Remember to include full information about your events—date, time, location and a description of the activity.

It should, I'll do a test post. If it doesn't show up in the "New Posts", let me know , and I'll look into it.
      Thanks

Applause to The AMCA and to Shelby Withrow, Membership Director of The Cherokee Chapter for the initial idea. Applause!

Technology reaches far more people now than any other advertising medium. I sincerely hope all Chapters use this "New Service to our Members" to announce their Road Runs, Bike Shows, Swap Meets, Chapter Rides and other activities local, National or Worldwide. It also would be a good format for Chapter Presidents, Membership Directors, Newletter Editors etc.... to ask questions and seek help to improve what they do? Change can be a good thing. If we keep doing everything like we used to... pretty soon it does not work as well in the future. We need to certainly hang on to what we know works from the "Past" but try to adjust and "Accomodate the Future" as well! With the national economic crisis subsiding, the economic future slowly brightening in many more parts of America and the riding season now in full swing, it is a very good time to try to encourage more people to become members of our worldwide club. New and especially younger riders need to be attracted and added each year to deal with normal membership attrition due to advancing age, death , and the fact that we do lose members for other reasons as well. Good positive communication seems to be the key in finding out where we are, what we need to do to improve, where we need to focus more and how we may better serve our members as we move forward in coming years. Having over 10,000 members can be a very good thing and it can also become more challenging. But as long as we communicate, more good can happen than not.
