  • Help with survey... C'mon guys, give us some votes here!

    Hi folks:

Looking for some help with a tongue-in-cheek survey. My hometown is in the running for the snobbiest town in Vermont... and we can't let Woodstock beat us. I mean, they are quite snobby. They do have buried power lines, Rockefellers and all. But we have a brand name town logo, designer covered bridges, a recycled asphalt free-range main street with Martha Stewart street-lamps and much trendier organic food cooperatives. Not to mention Brad Pitt stayed here once.

Please help me load the ballot box and get us voted the top snobs in Vermont by going to: http://noseupvt.tumblr.com/

And please vote for Stowe in the Mountain Division! The Shelburne/Middlebury race... meh. They don't stand a chance.

I will graciously raise my chin in mock-snobbery to everyone who votes for us! I know Duda and Harry Roberts can attest to Stowe's expertise at looking disdainfully down our noses at the plebian masses who aspire to be served at our exclusive boutiques... help us make it official!

    Cheers and thanks!

Sirhr The third Earl of Snobbery

          Done!

It's now neck-and-neck, 50-50. Now, we can't have that, can we? Vote the residents of the city's cemeteries in true cut-throat snob-style!

                GWW:

                Thanks for your vote!!

Actually, the point of it all is that we used to be just a normal little New England drinking town with a bit of a skiing problem.

Then all the Blivetsphincter and Plushbottom clans moved in with their trust funds and their leased Fiskar Karma's, and decided that us locals needed to go. And got all pompous about it and raised our property taxes into the stratosphere so they could have designer streetlamps and trash cans featured by Robin Leach on Dumpsters of the Rich and Famous.

When this survey appeared, our local paper (owned by none other than Long-Island Transplant Biddle Duke -- Of the Hampton's Biddles and the Philadelphia Dukes) got all upset about having the town called snobby. Ok... if your name is Biddle Duke... your parents bought you a newspaper to keep you occupied until your trust fund matured... and your wedding was featured in the 'Times Style section... You have no right to complain that the town you settled in has become snobby! Because one of the major reasons it is considered snobby, is that Biddle Duke is running the newspaper and gets offended at being called snobby.

Those of us who drive pickup trucks, ride oil-dripping-non-organic motorcycles, hunt deer and wear WalMart jeans... are enjoying the heck out of the survey which is calling a spade... a spade. Besides, we are better than Woodstock. That's where the toothbrush was invented. Otherwise it would have been called the Teeth Brush.

                Cheers,

                Sirhr

... and they also have astro-turf on their HS fields... to keep the cheerleaders from grazing.

I voted! (... but you wanna talk snobby, try living in a bedroom community for an Ivy League school, some of these people in our town think they're still in college! Sheesh.)

Now I get it: A true snob wouldn't tell everyone what town they lived in and to vote for. They'd just assume everyone already knew.
