  • Willys WAC "Jeeplet"

Here's something you don't see everyday. This prototype was produced by Willys during WWII. It's a lightweight Jeep powered by an opposed cylinder Harley engine. It uses an overhead valve version, not the sidevalve like the XA. Does anyone know any additional information on this model?

You see it whenever you look at the pictures I posted of it a few years ago. It is the Willys Air Cooled. Nicknamed the WAC or Peep. Not Jeeplet. It was powere by the XOD OHV variation of the XA engine. Four were built. Two went to the Army for testing and two were kept by the MoCo. One was still in the Harley family's garage untill a few years ago when it was donated to a boy scout camp. Since then it had dropped from sight.

I'm not sure if the Peep sounds any better than Jeeplet, but I've updated the article accordingly. Thanks for the correction.
