You had "one of those experiences" that don't come around often. As you realized, a tape recorder is priceless when that happens. There were dozens of blog entries, or chapters of a book recollected to you just then. It's a nice collection of photos and the stories you caught. The old bikes prove that they're more than just "chick magnets," don't they? People are willing to spill out their lifetimes to you, and anxious to do it.

Yeah. That's one reason why I ride old bikes rain, shine, snow, ice, etc. (The other is cause I'm not too smart). Had I chosen a different mode of transportation that evening I would have missed the opportunity to meet a guy who did amazing things in his lifetime and was willing to share his memories. I've come across the most interesting people and stumbled across a lot of great finds due to always being out on these old machines...but the Dirty Nine is by far the most Magnetic!Photo2065.jpg

Hi Cory, thanks for the links. Love this stuff. I too have met guys like that and was lucky enough to have my tape recorder with me.
We owe it to future generations to collect these stories and preserve them.

Hollywood, thanks for sharing your stories with us.
