I get so excited this time of year, just thinking about going to Oley. It has been one of the best meets for years. Started flying there 1995 and it was way cheaper. We use to come home on the plane with 225 lbs in three check in bags. Ice chest's full of good parts.
This year for two people it's going to cost $1,272 for ticket and car. The ticket cost $470 then they add Taxes, Fees for landing, Processing fee, ticket insurance fee, What the is THIS!, and o'yes $25 for one bag each way, so that's another $50. By the time it's all payed for it's going to cost each of us ,$900 to just be there. Then there's food and drinks, dancers, t-shirts and hopefully some good parts.
Boy I sure like going to Oley. Found some of the best parts ever there, been a few years. Good parts are harder and harder to find. Thanks to e-bay, I love e-bay and hate it. Found some of the best parts ever on there in the early 90's. Use to buy early J seats for $90 all the time.
But good friends are hard to find, and I have a pile of them at Oley. So I have to go just to say HI and enjoy the good food and drinks at the fire house. May be this year I will find that 1915 Harley part I have been looking for all these years. Like a gray paint front fender or gray paint chain guards, anything ORIGINAL GRAY PAINT.
