I used to love a British BBC series called "Lovejoy" about an antiques dealer who solved mysteries that revolved around (you guessed it) antiques.
His sidekicks 'faked up' a Brough Superior to try and swindle someone... I can't remember the details. But it was probably my favorite episode. And was really what introduced me to the Brough Superior (at least as far as learning how to pronounce it!)
Haven't seen Lovejoy on TV for years... must just be a DVD thing now.
Cheers,
Sirhr

I don't want a cigar. I was just telling you what the man who claimed to own the bike back in the early '80's told me. If you have a problem with that you will have to take it up with him, not me.Originally posted by AFJ View PostNice try - but no cigar!Be sure to visit;

Damn... wonder if I was hooked on the Brough Superior or Amanda Noar who made it my favorite episode.
She'es a hottie!
Yes.... "Eric of Arabia" was the episode and it was great. Lovejoy was an amazing series. Used to watch on A&E before they went to the dogs (aka Dog the Bounty Hunter) and probably Honey BooBoo.

There is considerable evidence to indicate that the 1925 Brough Superior SS100 registration number XX7646, as ridden by Amanda Noar in the film clip from the 1992 "Eric of Arabia" Lovejoy episode, is T.E. Lawrence's 4th Brough and his first SS100, the one he nick-named "Boanerges" and also "George IV". He owned that bike from March to October, 1925. The "rattle in the tank" mentioned and the subsequent opening of the hinged petrol tank cap by the "German collector" is an in-joke referring to the recorded habit of Lawrence carrying a couple of half-crown coins inside the filler cap on top of the filter screen. The reference to the "swagger stick" on clips alongside the front fork is another in-joke reference to the fact that Lawrence as an airman in the RAF was required to carry such a silly device when on parade. A third in-joke is the rolled-up photograph found inside the fake 14th century clay pig - it is the famous head-on picture of Lawrence on "George V" his second SS100 Brough Superior (Reg # RK4907), which he owned from Oct. 1925 to December, 1926, and was the bike involved in the "race with the Bristol Fighter in his book "The Mint". Pictures of "RK4907" show the presence of the swagger stick, clipped to the left side of the Castle fork - as in the film clip.Originally posted by c.o.
