1960's/1970's Motorola radio box needed

Have you tried ThrottleMasters up Chicago way? They used to buy/break tons of Chicago and other police bikes. If anyone has one, I bet they do.

Yes I have checked with them. As usual they have nothing. Police departments usually stripped radios and other equipment from vehicles before they are sold. I was at a City Of Los Angeles auction 25 years ago where they were selling pallets of obsolete radio equipment. If I had been smart I would have bought one as they were selling cheap.

Chris, I saw what I assume to be a repop in what looked like (to me) press molded (?plastic?) at Wauseon. Obviously brand new and it was in white which I would assume was the color of the resin. I do not recall who had it . BTW, I'm also looking for this setup for a '66.

One did sell on eBay last November for about $165... And I did some digging yesterday and there is a guy on a Guzzi forum who found one for his Guzzi Police bike restoration. Apparently, they used the exact same radio on the police Guzzis in CHP. He referenced the fact that "a few months before the CHP historical office helped find his" that the whole inventory had been scrapped. That was recent.

Not sure if it's a lead or not, but it appeared that the CHP historical office (or similar) takes an interest in accurate restoration of CHP bikes. That was the impression I got from the guy's Guzzi Article, anyway. Steve Slocombe would no more after his CHP VL building project... that is whether CHP can help you.

That said, Chris, given your excellent Google-fu... you probably found it. But it's a thought.

I have never seen or heard of the CHP using Guzzis. LAPD tried then for a couple years but their cost per mile was way too high. For instance if a H-D or Kaw needed a new clutch it was a 2 1/2 hour job. If a Guzzi needed a new clutch it was a 2 1/2 day job. Plus the Kaws and Hogs had good resale value while nobody wanted the Guzzis. LAPD now uses H-D and Honda. CHP has Beemers.
Fresno, CA has then all beat. Their motorcycle cops ride little Kawasaki dirt bikes.

Chris... sorry, my mistake. The link I posted is to a guy who restored an LAPD El Dorado. I just skimmed it before sending and thought CHP for some reason. Must be my juvenile fantasies with being either Ponch or John. That whole West Coast thing confuses me anyway. Doesn't water drain the opposite way out there?
